L'ho ricevuto oggi, mi ha fatto molto ridere.
I manuali di istruzioni mi fanno dannare, ma per fortuna esistono le persone: l'altro giorno il mio amico Giordano ha fatto un disegnino semplicissimo per spiegarmi la configurazione del monitor e del computer, era così chiaro e bello che me lo sono portato a casa.

The user's manuals are often complex and unclear, but luckily there are people. The other day my friend Giordano drew for me the display-computer configuration, and his drawing was so simple and clear that I took it home and stored it somewhere on my desk.
Micol Assaël is not the artist I thought and wrote about the other day. Her installation at Palais de Tokyo, however, is very different from everything else I've ever been in contact to. She placed twenty or so sheets of copper, one series facing another, and when you walk in that area your hair tingles. Electromagnetic forces.

Micol Assaël non è l'artista che pen savo e di cui scrivevo l'altro giorno. La su ainstallazione al Palais de Tokyo, comunque, è molto diversa da tutto quello che ho visto e sentito prima. Ha piazzato una vetina di grandi lastre di rame, due serie che si fronteggiano, e se entri nel loro campo ti si rizzano i capelli in testa. Campi elettromagnetici.
Wow! Micol Assaël has an exhibition at Palais de Tokyo, and I love her art, and I'm in Paris now, how lucky. I don't know the other artists but I like her very much. Some years ago she was at Jeu de Paume, I spent almost an hour watching a video of hers, about twenty minutes long. I wanted to feel it, know it by heart.

Evviva! Micol Assaël espone al Palai de Tokyo, e a me piace molto quello che fa, e sono a Parigi in questi giorni, che fortuna. Gli altri artisti li conosco meno, ma lei... Qualche anno fa era al Jeu de Paume, ho passato quasi un'ora davanti a un suo video di venti minuti. Volevo sentirlo, impararlo a memoria.

Il grande e il piccolo sono relativi, se uno è piccolo tutti gli sembrano enormi, e viceversa. Questo, più o meno, è il tema intorno al quale discuto con i ragazzi e i professori del Balzac, la mia scuola preferita (in verità l'unica che frequento), quelli della terza media di Parigi con cui ho realizzato il video Gargantua e il documentario che ne illustra il percorso, nel 2008.
Partendo da questo principio, lavoriamo insieme sugli eccessi, sul macro e sul micro, sui linguaggi. E ci divertiamo molto. Io provoco i loro pensieri e intanto li filmo.

Big and small depend on the size of who's looking, for a child everybody else is a giant. This is, more or less, the theme around which I'm working with the students of the school I love best, Balzac, in Paris. The same students and teachers with whom I made the video Gargantua and its making-of.
Starting from this idea, we work together thinking about macro and micro, excesses, languages. We enjoy it very much. I provoke their thoughts and in the meantime I film them.
