I like living in Paris, and I love the special humur French people have, but there is something in the way they think that's quite unpleasant. As a rule, first thing they minimize what others do, they're critical and envious. They go over it quite quickly, but then the damage is done.
I talked the other day to a friend of a project I have, which provoked the enthusiasm and obtained the collaboration of the many people involved, at a school. Her comment (and she's not even an artist, we know they are jealous): These professors will accept anything to entertain the students.
Another one says: Those videos you make, you just film people and record sounds, is that all?
I say to another that I'm not working too much these days, having produced at least ten videos this half year, and it's still summer. Reply: But they aren't all good, are they?

These are supposed to be friends, and usually are helpful and nice after that first spiteful burst; they just can't help themselves. And yes, I probably could avoid talking of my projects, but after all I can't always talk about neutral topics, especially not with friends.

Dico a un'altra che non sto lavorando tanto in questi giorni, perché è ancora agosto e perché quest'anno ho già prodotto circa dieci video. E lei: ma nons aranno tutti buoni, no?
Dovrebbero essere amici e di solito sono gentili e collaborativi, dopo quel primo scoppio di cattiveria, ma non riescono a farne a meno. E sì, forse io dovrei evitare di parlare dei miei progetti, ma non si può solo parlare di cose neutre, non con gli amici.
