Per settimane ho studiato i temi della net art attuale per il mio intervento al convegno di dol's di domenica prossima e sì, lo vedo che per alcuni non autorizzare i commenti è tradire lo spirito di internet. Ma vedo anche che quello spirito è tradito dalla peste degli spammer, e anche dai giochi distruttivi di certi net artisti.
Se la net art è networking art, come diceva qualcuno nel 2003, quando le regole della net art sono cambiate, allora io faccio network
con le mail più che con la mia arte.
Se la net art è affermare modelli sociali egalitari e liberi con lo spirito di chi si sente parte di un'élite, come scriveva un altro critico nello stesso periodo, allora io non c'entro. Non ho la presunzione di essere un leader capace di cambiare il mondo, mi limito a osservare, a constatare, a cercare e comunicare consapevolezza.

For weeks I've been studying the net art themes of today for my paper at dol's meeting next Sunday. Yes, I can see that for some not allowing comments is to betray the spirit of the internet. but I also see that spirit is betrayed by the spammer plague, and by the disruptive, destructive games of some net artists.
If net art is networking art, as someone said in 2003, when the rules of net art changed, then I network more with email than with my art.
If net art is to affirm free, egalitarian social models, with the spirit of those who feel part of an élite, as another ciritc wrote in the same year, then I'm outside of it. I don't presume to be a leader able to change the world, I limit myself to observe, to find out, to look for and communicate awareness.
