In una sala d'aspetto sfoglio una vecchia rivista che sostiene che le star oggi portano scarpe rosse, e che ce ne dovrebbe essere un paio nel guardaroba di ogni donna. Esco e noto nelle vetrine sandali rossi. Soprattutto vedo donne di tutte le età con scarpette e borse rosse, anche una nonna di almeno settant'anni. Lei ha messo anche il rossetto, e le sta proprio bene.
Tutto il contrario di come stanno quei calzoncini con gli stivali che vedo addosso a molte ragazze in questi primi giorni tiepidi. La moda può non abbellire affatto.

In a waiting room I look at an old magazine, it says stars today wear red high-heeled shoes and that every woman should own a pair. In shop windows I notice red sandals. Most of all, I see women of all age wearing red shoes and handbag, even an over-70 grandmother. She put on red lipstick too, she's lovely.
Just the opposite of those girls wearing baggy shorts and boots I see around in those first lukewarm spring days. Fashion can be so unflattering.
