My work as an artist is kind of multifaceted and borderline. In my opinion, it’s what makes it quite interesting and original.
But, while saying they’re looking for something new, most art people have no time for those who don’t fit into the usual schemes and can’t be defined with one word.
I often wonder how some very original and rather unsaleable artists could convince their first gallery. I’m told the one who made the first Tiravanija exhibition went bankrupt. He was a wonderful talent scout but in business sometimes that’s not enough.

Il mio lavoro di artista è sfaccettato e un po’ di confine. A mio parere, è questo che lo rende piuttosto interessante e originale.
Ma, mentre dicono di cercare qualcosa di nuovo, il mondo dell’arte apparentemente non ha tempo per quelli che non entrano nei soliti schemi e che non si definiscono con una parola sola.
Spesso mi chiedo come fanno certi artisti molto originali e abbastanza invendibili a convincere il loro primo gallerista. Dicono che quello che ha esposto per primo Tiravanija è fallito. Era un grande talent scout ma negli affari non basta.
