Secondo uno scrittore italiano di cui non ricordo il nome, il moderno mito del tramonto come cosa positiva è legato ai film western americani, in cui la speranza e I pionieri andavano verso ovest, là dove il sole muore. Ma forse, mi viene in mente in questo momento, anche il comunismo dei paesi a oriente ha fatto la sua parte, in negativo. A meno che non sia lo stesso messaggio, visto da punti di vista differenti: il buon bianco va a occidente, non a est. Anche se tramonto è sinonimo di decadenza.
Comunque sia, la luce oblique del tramonto è talmente bella che sono sempre pronta a essere decadente.

In the opinion of an Italian writer whose name I forget, the modern myth of sunset as a positive thing comes from the American western films, in which hope and pioneers traveled west, where the sun dies. But maybe, I think now, eastern countries communism did its negative part in this. Unless it is the same message, seen from different points of view: the good white man goes west, never east. Even though the fading of something means its decadence.
