Tanti italiani visitano i musei stranieri e invece di vedere le grandi opere d'arte vedono solo gli artisti italiani, e dicono Ah però, vedi, l'Italia è sempre... Sempre che cosa? Nelle arti visive siamo praticamente fermi al Rinascimento, e nelle altre non siamo andati molto oltre. Sì, certo, abbiamo avuto Palladio e Manzoni, Verdi, Rossini e Goldoni, recentemente Berio e Cattelan, ma per molti di noi e per il resto del mondo sono artisti di nicchia, chi li conosce?
Intanto il Cattelan Funs Club organizza pellegrinaggi sulle orme dell'artista e sotto le sue finestre. Canteremo anche una serenata? Non so se vado, ma sono stata invitata a fare parte del Club, e ovviamente della gita.

I think of those Italians that go to foreign museums and look only at Italian artists, saying Ah well, you see, Italy is always... Always what? In visual arts we are still more or less at the Renaissance, and in other fields we haven't got that farther. Yes, of course we have had Palladio and Manzoni, Verdi, Rossini and Goldoni, recently Berio and Cattelan, but for many of us and the rest of the world they are almost unknown.
In the meantime, the Cattelan Funs Club organise pilgrimages on the artist's tracks and under his windows. Will we make him a serenade too? I don't know whether I'll go, but I was invited to be a memeber of the Club, and of course to share in the promenade.
