Volevo cambiare argomento ma ho visto Il segreto di Vera Drake, il film di Ken Loach sull'aborto, e l'ho trovato un po' paternalistico. Se l'avesse fatto una donna, sarebbe stato cosė?
Ho bene in mente un trittico di Paula Rego, artista portoghese che ho visto alla Tate British e che, quando di recente in Portogallo hanno bocciato la legge sull'aborto, ha dipinto tre pastelli violentissimi eppure discreti, pieni di rispetto per le donne, in cui dice tutta la sua rabbia.
E siccome le idee viaggiano per associazione, ho ripensato a un'operaia che molti anni fa, ai tempi del referendum sull 'aborto in Italia, diceva che "le donne ricche, se non era per la salute, potrebbero abortire una volta al mese".

I wanted to change the topic but I've see Vera Drake's secret (is that teh English title? I hope so), Ken Loach's film about abortion, and I found it a little patronizing. If the author had been a woman would she have done it the same way? I think of Paula Rego, a Portoguese artist I've seen at Tate Britain and who painted three very violent and yet discreet pastels about illegal abortion when Portugal rejected the law about it.
And, given that ideas like to associate, I remember the woman worker who, at the time when Italy was discussing that law, said "if not for their health, rich women could have an abortion every month."
