Alcune delle ultime mostre che ho visto erano meno interessanti dei musei che le ospitavano. A San Sebastian ho visitato una parte di Manifesta 5, lo spazio era bellissimo e molto ben organizzato, delle opere me n'è piaciuta una.
Al Guggenheim di Bilbao la sensazione è stata di un'architettura fatta per stupire e di un freddo mortale per l'aria condizionata troppo spinta: un golf non bastava, d'estate. Le mostre erano prevalentemente rassegne della solita PopArt. Le poche opere contemporanee sono riciclate dagli altri Guggenheim: nel caso di Gerhard Richter e di Rachel Witherhead, quello di Berlino. Mi pare un'ottima logica commerciale. So che ormai per mostre e musei il numero dei visitatori, cioè gli affari, è diventato la cosa che conta.

Some of the latest ehibitions I saw were less interesting than the museums they were shown in. In San Sebastian I visited some of Manifesta 5, the place was wonderful and very well organized, but I liked only one of the artworks.
At the Bilbao Guggenheim the feeling was of an architecture trying to astonish and of a mortal chill due to the excessive air conditioning: I had a sweater, but it wasn't remotely enough. The shows were mainly PopArt reviews. The few contemporary works are recycled from other Guggenheim museums: in Gerhard Richter and Rachel Witherhead case, the Berlin one. It seems to me an excellent commercial move. I know that the number of visitors -in short, business- has become the main thing for exhibitions and museums.
