Per carità, ci si abitua a tutto, anche alle esagerazioni. A me però non piacciono tutti gli stupendo, allucinante e favoloso di cui si parla. Un francese invitato a cena dirà che c'est délicieux, quando il pasto è semplicemente buono. L'americano è il linguaggio degli eccessi, il minimo che si possa dire è sempre troppo. Il peggio è che se prendi quella strada dopo un po' ti tocca trovare superlativi ancora più enfatici, perché quelli vecchi non bastano più. Ma che cosa non va in parole come buono e bello?

Of course we get used to almost everything, even exaggerations. I don't like though all that great, fabulous and so on. After dinner, a Frenchman will say at least c'est délicieux, when the meal is just plain good. American is a language of excesses, the least you can say is always too much. And the worse is that if you go down that road, in a while you'll be obliged to find new, ever stronger adjectives, the old ones having lost strength. What's wrong with words like good and beautiful?
