Chiedo a una gallerista italiana di chi è un bel video che sto guardando. Risponde che è di una giovane ragazza (doppio-giovane, il massimo): la galleria lavora solo con artisti under30. E perché? Perché così la gallerista può ficcare il naso, pardon, partecipare al montaggio. Gli artisti più esperti vogliono fare per conto loro, dice. Ma lei cosa vuole, esattamente? Sentirsi artista senza rischi?
Non mi sorprende sapere che il bel video le è arrivato già fatto e finito. La ragazza artista sarà giovane, ma è anche competente e responsabile delle sue scelte.

I ask an Italian gallery owner who made a great video I'm seeing. She answers it's by a young girl (double-young, the very best): her gallery only works with artists under30. Why? So that she can intervene in the editing. More experienced artists wish to work alone, she says. But what does she want? Feeling like an artist without the risk?
I'm not surprised when I know the great video came to her already finished. The girl-artist might be young, but she's good. And answering for her job.
