-nel lungo periodo dei più famosi cento artisti del mondo di oggi ne resteranno al massimo dieci.
Questo vuol dire che per gli altri centomila artisti non c'è speranza di un futuro migliore: o si riesce adesso, anche poco, o niente. Un artista come Rembrandt, mica uno qualunque, era passato di moda quando era in vita. E, per quanto ne so, l'unico che sia diventato davvero famoso solo dopo morto è stato van Gogh.

-in the long run, out of the most famous hundred artists in today's world, perhaps ten, at the most, will remain.
That means that for the other one-hundred-thousand artists there's no hope of a better future: either they succeed now, or nothing. Rembrandt, not a small artist, was out of fashion at the end of his life. And, to my knowledge, the only artist that became really famous only after he died has been van Gogh.
