Più studio, cercando di capire, più scopro che nel campo dell'arte contemporanea in Italia c'è più confusione che fra i partiti. Tanti, piccoli, ognuno per sé. Chi detta regole restringe il campo a sé stesso e ai suoi amici, escludendo tutti gli altri.
Alessandro Amaducci si occupa di videoarte monocanale, parola che non esiste nel mio dizionario e che vuol dire "creata per essere vista su uno schermo, e uno solo". Guai alle installazioni! Guai a chi racconta qualcosa! La videoarte secondo lui nasce dalla radio, è nemica del cinema e rivale "migliore" della tv. Definisce all'inizio del libro le regole che valgono per lui. Sono talmente restrittive che per ognuno dei pochi e bravi artisti che accetta nel suo paradiso deve comunque fare deroghe. E se la videoarte è solo quella che dice lui sono quasi contenta di esserne fuori.

The more I study, tring to understand, the more iI dscover that Italian contemporary art is more confused than politics. Many small parties, each working on its own. Whoever dictates the rules limits the field to himself and his friends, keeping out all others.
Alessandro Amaducci's field is "monocanal" videoart, a word that doesn't exist in my dictionary, meaning videos made to be seen on a single screen. Beware of installations! Beware of those who narrate something! In his opinion videoart is the heir of radio shows, is the arch-enemy of cinema and a "better" rival of tv. He defines his rules at the beginning of his book. They are so restrictive he has to make allowances for each of the good artists he accepts in his heaven. And if videoart is just what he says it is, I'm almost happy to be an outsider.
