In Italia ci sono parecchie artiste che lavorano più che sui temi delle donne sul tema del matrimonio, e lo descrivono come orribile: Odinea Pamici e Silvia Levenson sono le prime che mi vengono in mente. Coltelli di cristallo, abiti da sposa di filo spinato o di finto vomito, ossessività dei lavori casalinghi: tutta la retorica e la noia del matrimonio piccolo borghese. Le artiste più giovani secondo me sono più libere, parlano del corpo e di erotismo, forse divorziano?
La stessa Levenson confessa che da quando si è separata non scolpisce più torte nuziali farcite di lamette da barba. Adesso scolpisce lettini da fachiro, di vetro e metallo, graziosi e impossibili. Li ho visti oggi alla fiera d'arte di Torino, Artissima.

In Italy there are several women artists working preferably on the theme of marriage, and they paint it as a horror: Odinea Pamici and Silvia Levenson are the first names I can think of. Crystal knives, marriage dresses in barbed wire or fake vomit, obsessiveness of household chores: all the rhetoric and boredom of middle-class marriage. In my opinion, the younger artists are freer, they talk about their body and eroticism, maybe they divorce? Levenson herself confesses that since she left her husband she doesn't sculpt wedding cakes filled with razor blades instead of fudge anymore. Now she sculpts small metal and glass fakir's beds, pretty and impossible. I've seen them today at Turin's art fair, Artissima.
