Is there still such a thing as feminist art?
What impact do the heroic practitioners of the '70s have on today's artists? Artforum asked Linda Nochlin, Andrea Fraser, Amelia Jones, Dan Cameron, Collier Schorr, Jan Avgikos, Catherine De Zegher, Adrian Piper, and Peggy Phelan to offer their thoughts on feminist art's evolving, if ambivalent, legacy.

Think of the works of Eija-Liisa Ahtila and Sophie Calle, for instance, and Pipilotti Rist, Jenny Holzer, Sam Taylor-Wood, Shirin Neshat. Compare today's women's art with the works of Judy Chicago, Louise Bourgeois, Carol Rama. Or with the photos and videos by Valie Export, crude and sexy Austrian feminist of the '70s, which I belatedly discovered the other day at the Centre national de la Photographie in Paris. Some works of hers are still wonderful, and shocking, after thirty years.
