Some days ago I got a request for solidarity:
"On 11 July the Regional Court in Gdansk (Poland) found the artist Dorota Nieznalska guilty of insulting religious feelings and sentenced her to six months? restriction of freedom and community work for charitable organisations and ordered her to pay all the costs of the trial.
...part of the punishment imposed on the artist includes community work, which clearly is intended to inform society that artistic creativity is not work..."
"Il n'a jamais travaillé, ce mec-là", iI heard the family of a painter saying, though he always earned his living with art.
I still remember the envious manager I met some years ago, he said spitefully "When you're an artist, you can't also wish to earn money!"

Giorni fa mi è arrivata una richiesta di solidarietà:
"L'11 luglio il tribunale di Gdansk (Polonia) ha giudicato l'artista Dorota Nieznalska colpevole di insultare i sentimenti religiosi e l'ha condannata a sei mesi di libertà vigilata e lavoro per la comunità in organizzazioni caritative; dovrà inoltre pagare le spese processuali.
... parte della punizione imposta all'artista include lavoro comunitario, e implica chiaramente che la creatività dell'artista non è lavoro..."
"Il n'a jamais travaillé, ce mec-là", dicevano i parenti di un pittore francese che pure si è sempre mantenuto con la sua arte.
Ricordo ancora un manager invidioso incontrato anni fa, diceva con astio:"Lei fa l'artista, non vorrà mica anche guadagnare?"
