Il 9 maggio a Padova in occasione del webb. it ci sarà un workshop organizzato da dols.net su Donne, net.art e web design, e io sono fra le relatrici. Queste sono più o meno, e in breve, le cose che dirò.
-net.art
La net.art è un modo di fare arte e comunicazione specificamente per internet
Per definirsi net.artisti non è sufficiente fare una mostra online dei propri quadri o sculture!
(anche l'arte digitale è un'altra cosa, perché usa gli strumenti elettronici come se fossero pennelli o scalpelli, colori o marmo)
Si tratta di creare opere specifiche per il web, che idealmente non possono esistere senza la rete
Sono spesso lavori interattivi, utilizzano (e non subiscono) le caratteristiche del web come un punto di forza, fondante e fondamentale
-donne e net.art
In principio c'era ada.web, un sito di sperimentazione all'incrocio fra programmazione e arte, dove sono apparsi lavori di artiste famose come Jenny Holzer con i suoi affascinanti falsi proverbi e modi di dire (i Truismi)
i temi della net-art sono molteplici, ma le donne tendono a privilegiarne alcuni:
-il diario, che comprende immagine di sé, il rapporto con gli altri, le questioni di genere, sesso e affettività
-la collaborazione: l'artista propone un progetto, un tema, e invita altri a partecipare
In genere le donne lavorano più sui contenuti di comunicazione che sulla parte di programmazione (e quindi sono ammesse più raramente nell'olimpo dei net.artisti, spesso selezionati da critici "ingegneri")
ma esistono per esempio anche i giochi di Natalie Bookchin, USA : il suo Metapet prende in giro il mondo delle aziende, delle biotecnologie e dei giochi elettronici www.creativetime.org/metapet

On May 9th in Padua there will be a workshop on the theme "Women, net.art and web design" and I'll be among the speakers invited by dols.net. This is in short, more or less, what I'm going to tell.
Net.art is a way of making art specifically for the internet. It is not enough to have one's sculptures or paintings online to be a netartist! Net.art works ideally couldn't exist without the web. They are often interactive works, founded on the characteristics and limits of the internet
women and net.art
In the beginning there was ada.web, on the crossroad between software and art, with works of many famous artists, like Jenny Holzer with her wonderful fake proverbs (Truisms)
net.artists like to work on several themes, but women tend to prefer the following
-the journal, concerning life, self, relationships, gender, sex and love
-the group show: the artist chooses a theme and invites other people to join in
but of course there are other styles, like the games of Natalie Bookchin, USA
whose Metapet is on the corporate world, especially the biotechnologies and videogames industries
